Private Practice Consultations
The doors to my private practice, at Westville Hospital in Durban KZN, opened in 2010. With a love for healthy food and a passion for nutrition education, I enjoy helping my clients improve the nutritional quality of their diets. I encourage a focus on nourishment rather than restriction. The human body is fascinating and I firmly believe if people knew how hard the body works each day, healthy eating would be both easy and enjoyable.
While healthy food is any food that offers you more nutrients than harmful additions such as excessive salt, sugar or saturated fats, a diet is simply a habitual eating pattern. To a achieve a healthy diet therefore requires the habitual intake of nutrient dense foods. My motto #benourished is a simple one but does require knowledge, consistency, organisation and motivation.
Registered dietitians are qualified in the science of nutrition and the communication of that science to individuals or groups of people. Dietitians educate clients and patients on evidence based nutrition findings for optimal nutrient intake, health promotion and disease prevention or management. Dietitians take many factors into account when planning menu guides (see graphic below) and we pride ourselves in individuality when consulting with clients and preparing meal plans.
Individuals, with or without health ailments, can benefit from dietary intervention from a dietitian for improved long term quality of life. As a dietitian registered with the Healthcare Professions Council of South Africa I offer individual consultation for assistance with the following:
