Favourite Find #3 : Mary Berry

uktv-the-great-british-bake-off-2013-5I have always loved older people with their wisdom that seems to come directly from their souls, but this lady has captured my heart without me having met her. I regret that I cannot say I knew of Mary Berry before she acted as a judge on ‘The Great British Bake-Off’ but having written countless recipe books she is a true icon in the culinary world. I have since come to learn much more about her life and cooking career and feel inspired to share her. Having discovered this lovely lady, I could not resist buying her autobiography when I spotted it in a book store.

Mary-Berry-Recipe-For-Life

Beautifully written, Recipe for Life is filled with wisdom, humour and trusted celebration recipes from Mary Berry’s life. She is very generous in sharing her life lessons, sorrows and successes. A remarkable lady to say the least, Mary is a true inspiration. It is a read you will not forget and the cooking tips will last you a lifetime.

For Christmas I received one of her many books and have learned that mastering simple cooking techniques is the secret to consistent success in the kitchen. Efficiency in the kitchen comes with her simple techniques and endless knowledge.

9781405373494HI learned so much about cooking techniques just by reading through this book. The instructions are simple and easy to follow. Mary always shares her insight into the benefit of certain techniques and the beautiful photographs make following the directions even easier. These recipes are staple recipes for family meals and healthy eating. I imagine this book would make a great gift for a kitchen tea or a student moving away from home. The lessons and recipes are timeless.

“My mother wasn’t a cook by trade, but we always had home-cooked everything. It wasn’t until I was at school I realised food was something I was quite good at.”
